Visakhapatnam: With the aim of motivating employees to solve grievances in time as well as to check entry of unwanted persons, the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (Vuda) on Tuesday introduced the biometric system of registering attendance.
Vuda vice-chairman T Baburao Naidu visited all sections of the office and examined the functioning of the system and CCTV cameras. He said the biometric system has been introduced to streamline administrative activities and attending the grievances of visitors. Later, secretary A Srinivas convened a meeting with the staff to promote awareness among them on the biometric system.
The vice-chairman also warned the staff to avoid delay in extending services failing which he said penalties would be imposed on them. He further directed the heads of the concerned wings to maintain records of whereabouts of the staff during office hours.
At present, visitors are permitted entry by providing their photo, details and the purpose of visit, Srinivas said.
Earlier in the day, the Vuda vice-chairman sanctioned Rs 7 lakh to develop greenery around the international skating rink at Vuda Park.
Inspecting the rink during his morning walk, the vice-chairman sanctioned the amount and directed officials to take up the works without any delay and complete it as early as possible. The rink is used by a large number of children as well as youths for training and it is the only available biggest and standard rink, said a release from Vuda.
The vice-chairman directed the officials to take up greenery and lighting improvement works immediately.
The officials were also directed to provide an e-toilet for the use of trainers and a road-circuit on the seaside of the rink along with improving the greenery.
