Scholarships for girls in rural areas

Vasantham Child Welfare Association celebrated its Founder’s Day on the Sivaji Park premises on Friday. This year the organisation started scholarships to girl students in rural areas who had completed class 10 to encourage them to continue further education.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Swamy Ananthananda, Resident Acharya of Chinmaya Mission, Visakhapatnam Centre, explained the importance of service for the needy.

M. Raghu Ramarao, founder president of the association, said that free medicines, notebooks, school bags, pens, pencils, meal plates and writing pads were given to 1,700 children. Capt. N. Ramakrishna, secretary, spoke about the activities of the association. R. Suryanaryana, a senior citizen, and P. Krishna Veni, recipient of national best teacher award – 2014 were felicitated for their outstanding contribution to the society. G. Dharmarao, vice-president of the organization, Sriramachandra Murty, D. Apparao, VSRK Prasad, members of the YES yoga, Yes Walkers Association and others attended the programme and took part in the Ugadi celebrations. On the occasion, members of Sanathana Yoga Kendra, Sivajipark, distributed “Ugadi Pachhadi” to all members who attended the function.
