Visakhapatnam: Plans are being chalked out to develop Anakapalli Lok Sabha constituency as a model constituency by providing all the basic amenities to 1,500 villages in 800 panchayats as well as modernised facilities to three adopted villages, said Anakapalli MP M Srinivasa Rao.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, the MP said he has been planning to develop Anakapalli into a model constituency by providing basic amenities like housing, sanitation, drinking water and electricity as well as increasing the literacy rate. As part of the project, he said he would allot Rs 1 crore each for the three adopted villages of Duddupalem in Chodavaram, Tallapalem in Anakapalli and Iruwada in Yelamanchili. The villagers have asked for wi-fi connections for which he plans to spend Rs 3.5 lakh each and the facility will be in place soon, Rao added.
Elaborating on the project, the MP said that as per the plan the Anandapuram-Anakapalli state highway will be converted into a six-lane national highway at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore, for which a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared. The 48-km stretch will be able to divert the traffic from the congested NH-16 from Anandapuram to Anakapalli via Sabbavaram.
He further said that foundation stone for NTPC’s 4,000 MW expansion plant proposed at lalam Koduru-Pudimadaka would be held in couple of months. “This plant would provide not only sufficient power to the state, but also supply power to other states. The site to build a Kendriya Vidyalaya building has also been finalised at Sundarayyapeta. One skill development centre will also come up in this constituency,” he said.
