Indian Institute of Packaging, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Commerce, has announced its decision to set up a chapter in Visakhapatnam.
This was confirmed by IIP Director N.C. Saha while addressing a seminar on golden opportunities in packaging industry in Hyderabad on Monday.
Earlier, a team from IIP held talks with MP K. Haribabu and district Collector N. Yuvaraj on the possibility of opening a campus and developing a packaging park in the city.
Dr. Saha said that the IIP would soon expand to Andhra Pradesh by opening a chapter in Visakhapatnam in order to cater to the needs of the newly-created State.
He said the IIP was likely to get Parliament nod as an institute of national importance. IIP had already written to the Ministry of Commerce in this regard.
IIP will offer courses like B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D in packaging technology and management by the academic year 2017.
