An Odia food festival will be the special attraction during the two-day Utkal Divas – the 81st formation day of Odisha being organised by Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj (USS), a socio-cultural organisation in the city.
The festival will offer mouth-watering ethnic delicacies like ‘manda, kakara, chhena poda, guguni, dahi bara and alloo dum’ prepared by Odia families. Lakshay from Bhubaneswar, a cultural troupe led by Kshanaprava Parida, will perform and entertain the audience.
While the food festival will be organised on April 1, the second day will mark invocation song Vande Utkal Janani followed by Odissi, Sambalpuri, and folk dances by in-house artistes. Odia play ‘Niraba Jhada’ directed by director R.P. Sahu will be staged, according to USS secretary S.K. Panigrahi. Principal Commissioner of Customs C. Rajendran will be the chief guest. RINL Director (projects) P.C. Mohapatra, cardiac surgeon from Care Hospital P.V. Satyanarayana and General Manager of Nalco A.K. Murthy will attend.
