Visakhapatnam: The Eastern Power Distribution Company of AP Limited (APEPDCL) is the first power utility in the country to turn into an e-office, said R Mutyala Raju, CMD of the company on Monday.
He said the state government has created 62,291 files till now, of which 50,036 have been digitalised by APEPDCL. The civil supplies department is second in creating 2,508 files, Vuda stood third with 1,886 files and the police commissionerate at Vijayawada created 1764 files.
About 2843 e-office users working in 532 offices of the discom in five districts contributed in achieving this goal. This contribution has helped save trees which otherwise would have have been cut for producing 4.5 lakh of A4 size sheet, Mutyala Raju said.
The e-office was launched on August 14, 2015 in the APEPDCL’s corporate office and subsequently covered all its offices in the five districts. From November 30 onwards, all the five circle offices became e-offices. “The object of the e-office is to clear the files without delay. The software is capable of handling department files in electronic format and has features such as knowledge management system, personal information system , collaboration and messaging services,” Mutyala Raju said.
